Replication Policy for New Chapters
* The chapter shall adopt the name, mission statement and logo of
the original Augustine Project based at Holy Family Episcopal Church in
Chapel Hill, NC (hereinafter "AP").

* The prospective leader of a chapter must complete the 70 hour
Orton-Gillingham training course offered by AP.

* The prospective leader of a chapter must tutor an Augustine child
for the normal period of 60 sessions and be observed during such
period by the AP director or an AP designee.

* The AP board must approve the replication based on the
recommendation of the AP director. Prior to approval, the board may
request an interview with the prospective chapter leader and a review
of the tutor training / monitoring plan.

* To ensure consistency of training methodology, the director or
another representative of the chapter shall be expected to attend /
observe an AP tutor training in Durham or Chapel Hill at least every
three years. Chapter directors may be invited to serve as supervisors
at AP trainings.

* 6. Each replication is authorized to use AP materials (Training
Manual, Tutor and Student Notebooks, scripted lesson plan,
supplemental games and activities, etc.) Any significant changes
(including assessment instruments, training or lesson planning
materials) must be approved by the AP director in consultation with
the board.

* The training offered by the chapter must include at least a 5 day
practicum with a 3 to 1 trainee to supervisor ratio.

* It is our preference that the chapter be affiliated with a faith
community.

* The chapter must operate as a not-for-profit organization with
tutors serving Augustine children in a volunteer capacity.

* Within 2 years of the chapter's initial training, a governing body shall
be established and bylaws drafted. The by-laws shall be submitted to
the AP for approval prior to adoption by the chapter.

* The chapter shall submit to the AP director an annual report
including: the number of tutors trained that year; the total number of
students being served by the chapter; the number of schools using
Augustine tutors; test scores indicating student achievement in
phonological awareness, word attack, spelling, and reading; and three
major goals for the coming year.

* Should a replication wish to deviate from the AP model or should
the AP determine that a chapter is not in compliance with the terms of
this policy or conforming to the standards of the AP, the relationship
between the replication and AP shall be dissolved in the sole discretion
of the AP board. In such instance, the replication must relinquish the
use of the AP name, mission statement, logo and materials.
